Introduction

The role of Research pertaining to the built environment has been the focus at SMMCA Nagpur’s Ph.D. cell since its inception in 2011. Since then efforts towards documentation of different built environment, methods to nurture creativity, and multi-disciplinary research has been envisaged and carried out by the institute.

SMMCA is the only institute to have an active research cell affiliated with RTMNU, Nagpur with six supervisors, a group of eminent research panelists, and twenty scholars who have made their original contributions in the varied areas of research in built environments.

The Ph.D. cell has 11 scholars currently pursuing their doctoral research. The institute has an independent research and publication unit ‘Mimansa’. Other than publication, it is also engaged with spreading awareness amongst the architecture fraternity and the general public through research presentations. Currently, the institute has fourteen faculties with Ph.D. degrees (13 in architecture and one in education).

Smt. Manoramabai Mundle College of Architecture has been approved as a Research Centre by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur and Council of Architecture, New Delhi. It offers Ph. D. programmers in a wide range of areas of Architecture, Planning, Urban Design, etc. The college also encourages research in interdisciplinary areas through a system of joint supervision. The medium of instruction in the college is English.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility for admission to Ph. D. (the Doctoral Research) is:

Masters degree in architecture or allied subjects or equivalent qualification.

Who Can Apply

Part Time:

In service candidates, candidates who are employed as faculty / staff / project staff working in any Technical Institute or candidates working in any public/ private sector organization who are desirous to pursue Research on part-time basis.

How To Apply

The candidate is supposed to clear the Pre Entrance Test (PET) conducted by RTM Nagpur University and appear and clear the RRC to be eligible to take admission to the PhD Centre. (For further details Refer Website of RTMNU)
